    Our New Camping Buddy…

Many folks who have vintage Serro Scotty trailers also have a Scottish Terrier for a pet. Why not? The Scotty trailers have adorned a black terrier in their logo since the early stages of the company’s existence in the late 1950’s. Back in December after we made the trek to Transfer, Pennsylvania to talk with the folks at Serro Scotty Worldwide about getting a HiLander, we were pretty sure after this trip we’d one day get one. On the return trip home, we found ourselves at an antique mall somewhere west of Columbus, Ohio on US 40. We walked around a bit to stretch and look at some of the…

    Friday Happy Dance…

After waiting all week to hear back from Tom at Serro Scotty trailers, we got in touch with him today to find out about the modifications for our new HiLander that we’d like done in production. All three were OK’d at NO COST!! With the total retro look of the exterior from the colors to the design, we wanted to do the same with the interior. First, the interior on a standard HiLander looks like this: We’re going with a different flooring. Instead of the tan stuff, we’re going with the highly retro black & white checkered floor, which will look similar to this old Shasta trailer: The next issue…

    April 2010: Ouabache State Park

Fellow T@B owners Alan and Carie, Tom and Ella and Pat and myself decided to get together for another fun weekend of camping. With our busy schedules at work, Pat and I could only camp on the weekend. It was rainy on the way up, cleared up when we arrived, and then another storm came, but it was mercifully brief! All in all it was a nice weekend and Ouabache is a very nice state park. Pat and I scoped out some sites we’d like to stay in sometime so I am sure we’ll be back! I didn’t take too many photos this weekend, but here a few shots of…

    March 28, 2010: Sunday Drive

Even though it was a gloomy, rainy day, we decided to do a little recon regarding state park campgrounds and sites we might like to stay in someday. We were particularly interested in Ouabache State Park, since would be staying with a couple of other Tabbers the following weekend and wanted to see which areas would be good for us. We also checked out a T@B trailer, clamshell model, that friends had an interest in. The T@B clamshell is more similar to a traditional teardrop in the sense that it does not have a kitchen inside; it has a hatch in back that opens to an exterior galley kitchen. We…

October & November 2009: More camping!

Wow…what an autumn this has been! As the official start of winter bears down upon us (but with weather that is saying winter is here NOW), I decided to relate our continued camping adventures in our new T@B trailer. We had so much fun during our first trip at Summit Lake State Park, with other TABbers (despite the very chilly weekend), we immediately decided that if the weather was nice the following weekend, we would again go camping. Well, we did; again…and again…and again…and again! We managed to squeeze in 5 camping weekends since October 16th, only missing Halloween weekend (we were warned that camping the weekend closest to Halloween is…

October 2009: Summit Lake State Park – Our first T@B camping trip!

Friday, October 16, 2009 It’s been exactly a month since we picked up our T@B from Tiara RV. We “camped out” (i.e., slept in and watched a DVD the first night we brought it home). We hadn’t had a chance to really camp in it, since we needed to get a tow vehicle first. Every other weekend I have been busy “fall cleaning” the house. To our delight, several members of the T@B / T@DA Yahoo Group were getting together this weekend. We definitely wanted to go and were excited about it. We made reservations at the campground and toward the end of this week, started getting more items, packing,…
