Intro

After deciding to take a chance on Poker Face for its Columbo connection, I immediately found myself drawn in by the very first episode.

Set in the Southwest—one of my favorite regions—and in a place I had recently passed through, Laughlin, Nevada, it felt instantly familiar. The classic desert casino atmosphere, the open road, and that sense of freedom you only get in the Southwest all came together in a way that hooked me right away.

That was all it took to pull me into the world of Poker Face.

Filming Locations

Riverside Resort & Casino

Address: 1650 S Casino Dr, Laughlin, NV 89029

What Scenes Take Place Here

The majority of the episode takes place at the fictional Frost Casino, owned by Sterling Frost, Sr. (Ron Perlman) and managed by his son, Sterling Frost, Jr. (Adrien Brody).

Benjamin Bratt plays Cliff LeGrand, head of security. Charlie works as a cocktail waitress, while her friend Natalie is a housekeeper.

Exterior shots throughout the episode feature the Riverside Resort in Laughlin, along with views across the Colorado River into Bullhead City.

Behind the Scenes vs Reality

  • Exterior: The Riverside Resort was modified in production to become the Frost Casino. Signage, building details, and nearby elements (including views of the Aquarius) were altered or removed.
  • Interior: Casino interiors were filmed on a set in New York.
  • Fun Detail: The fictional casino carpet was nearly identical to the real carpet in parts of the Riverside.

Observations

Laughlin has that classic riverfront casino feel—water taxis, riverwalks, and cruises along the Colorado River. It’s smaller and more relaxed than Las Vegas, with a vibe that feels like an earlier era of Vegas but with modern amenities.

Road Trip Note

An easy and worthwhile stop along the river. Whether for a quick photo, a meal, or an overnight stay, it’s a great way to experience a casino town without the scale and chaos of Las Vegas.
