Juliette, Georgia - Filming location for "Fried Green Tomatoes"

August 15, 2004

Please be patient while page loads...thank you!

Once I knew I would be going to Atlanta for surgery, I started looking up things Pat and I would be interested in seeing in Georgia, such as roadside attractions, diners, neon signs, etc.  I guess I was pretty preoccupied with the surgical plans and preparations, because I can't remember what "train" of thought led me to find that much of the movie Fried Green Tomatoes was filmed in Juliette, Georgia, not too far south of Atlanta.  I also found that the building used as the café in the movie was actually being run as a café, and of course they serve fried green tomatoes.  I told Amber about this and she was pretty excited, since she was a fan of the movie and wanted me to see it with her.  Unfortunately, since school was in session and the trip was primarily for my surgery, she couldn't go - but I promised to take lots of pictures.

I didn't have much time, but I made some screen captures from the movie and tried to match some of the locations as closely as I could.  We went to Juliette on Sunday, the day after we arrived in Georgia.  It was pretty exciting actually seeing the place where the movie was filmed.  Of course, we ate at the café, took lots of pictures and browsed the gift shops.  I bought us alot of FGT souvenirs, t-shirts, a tapestry bag, postcards, etc...$100 lighter in the pocket!

The links to the pages below have screen captures from the movie and the photos I took when I was in Juliette, Georgia of the same locations:
